At least in Chile people usually stop at zebra crossings,
where in Argentina they are allowed to fade to nothing and you cannot rely on
anyone to stop, even in a slow moving queue of cars. Conversely, every tiny
town in Argentina has a big bright shiny freshly painted casino!
