... since September and won't reopen until May so the tour groups had to get there crystal fix at the store in Innsbruck. It is really quite a large store with some magnificent pieces.

Innsbruck looks so different with the market. I completely missed the Golden Roof the first day we were walking around. It changes the context of the square so much.

We we really enjoyed our stay in Innsbruck and now we are off to Salzburg.

We drove from Lindau to Innsbruck. It is about a 2 hour drive without stops on mostly 4 lane road and good highways. We already had out Austrian Road sticker. We got that when we went to Lichtenstein.

Driving through the Alps is not like driving through the mountains in western Canada. The Germans and Austrians don't believe in going around a mountain if you can go through it. We figure 1/4 of our trip was in tunnels!

I have been along this road quite a few times now in the passed and so know
it well or so I thought I did.
I stopped at a roadside parking bay and took a few more shots of the Alps
and really thought that was the last and as from there I raced on as fast as I
could along this great road.
It sure is good now to be back in the more civilised country's of Europe. I
feel so much more safer riding here than those ...

... say we were on one slope for like 20 minutes trying to get my ski back on. Finally I just gave up and walked down the rest of the hill before trying again. It was all good though when we got the ski finally back on! The day went much faster than we thought it would, although by the end of the day we were ready to go back to our apartment.
