... a beautiful old town on the lake. It was tricky to find somewhere to park but we decided to try the chairlift car park in Obertraun. We walked back to Hallstatt, about 40mins, and looked through town. We stopped at the Skull house where they keep old skulls that have been removed from their graves. It was strange but interesting! ... It is truly a beautiful place. Plenty of people walking around in traditional Austrian clothing. There is a band playing at the end of the pedestrian mall. The sun is shining and its lovely and warm. I could get used to this little piece of paradise. That is until winter comes.

Sunday is a travel day. 3 trains and 1 bus to get to the next destination which is Bled, Slovenia. I hope i have timed all the connections properly, or i will be in trouble.

... headed out, with our first stop on a warm afternoon was to the river - where we dipped hats and shirts into the freezing water. This cooled us down for about 5 minutes, and we headed off up and we started our ascent.... of 1100m and 3 hours. First beside a brook then up and over ridges on the side of a mountain. Then it got really steep and vertigo had its last swipe at us. After it seemed like an eternity and lots of constructive criticism from Rob to ...

... up a long hill that takes a good 20 minutes. Up the top the sign says they will call you group number...... What f#%^^n group number?. It appears we should have arranged one at level 1 stop. Stupid tourists. So the guy stops us at the entrance until all others get through then allows us to join. Phew! Really cool app that we were able to download. For each station in the cave we had audio descriptions read in English on the mobile phone, while everyone else could ...
