Joy, being aware of how hot she gets in most galleries while she is writing her notes, divested of her coat, hat, gloves and thick aran cardigan and placed them carefully in the locker with her DSLR camera just carrying in handbag and tablet. A nice set of stairs to the first floor greets one on entry - love galleries in Italy, they are designed to keep line fit! ...

As well as original paintings by Raphael's father, himself a much in demand painter, the highlight is a painting of the madonna and child by the young Raphael, and you can plainly discern the wonderful capture of light and colour which was to make him famous in later years.
