... and with jeans on to cover my ankles) but it was worth it to look around and look out at the views, it was kind of mystical! It was €3 to get into the monastery itself and even though my ankles were covered they made me put a skirt overtop because I'm a girl! There were little museums, gardens, the church, a wine cellar and kitchen to look around inside. While we were wandering around Simon and I found a while room filled with skulls and bones which was super creepy. ...

... the big town to find a side-street tavern that was showing the game on five huge flat screen TV's. Sadly, Greece lost 3-0 and we were disappointed that we never got to see the assembled crowd (nearly all men) have a chance to celebrate a Greek goal but were glad that we made the effort to go into Kalabaka to see the game. We returned to Kastraki in time for a superb dinner at our hotel during twilight and went to bed after an exhausting but thrilling day.

... caution to the wind - having not had a meal out for several weeks, we found a little cafe where we ordered Moussaka and Souvlaki at 7 Euro each. it was really delicious and as in Turkey, the Greeks serve a basket of bread with all meals.
