... noticed big birds in the adjacent field - Storks!! About 7 or 8 picking amongst the old corn stalks. it wasn't long before they took off, whirled overhead a while and set off northwards. They must have arrived from Africa, using the same pass over the Pyrenees as we would be using.

We carried on, past Pamiers and Foix and arrived at Tarascon sur ...

... up to the top in less than an hour if it wanted to. We stayed in the village of Soldeu, one of six main entry points to the area, but we were driving past parts of Grandvalira for a half hour before we arrived there. It’s huge; and from the top you can look west and see Spain, then turn around and see France.

Getting off the bus, we found our apartment without difficulty, and quickly picked up our lift tickets ...

... managed to fit in a visit to the local wildlife park where they have cool Wolfs and Bears, had a mountain adventure up to 'Le Homme De Mort' - 'the dead man' peak - a cool 2.5 hrs up then 1hr down! Kally the stupid dog came with us (against our will) and impressed us with completing at least three times as many miles as us, racing around after anything we would throw for her!

So two weeks to go and more guests arrive.....Bring on Bristol!
