We boarded a plane, left Croatia, flew across the Adriatic Sea then over Italy into Switzerland. We landed in a city called Basel which is on the border to France, Switzerland and Germany. Then the plan was a straightforward train journey from Basel to Lucerne. Or so we thought....We arrived at the train station at 10:03 and the next train for Lucerne was scheduled at 10:04. Common sense would suggest stop, have a coffee and catch the next train. Tara ...

It's already been two weeks since I left Australia and all I can say is wow. We had resolved to have a lazy day in Reiden, which amounted to playing board and card games. The two games played were Brandi Dog, and Bells. Almost everyone that has been out boating with us on 'Grand Cru' would have been introduced to 'Bells', as taught to us by Dom & Petra on a trans-alpine crossing of South Island NZ in 1995. Brandi Dog they introduced to us on a visit to Switzerland in 2010, ...

Today our tour guide pushed the times of our morning activity and lunch back so that we could attempt to get some sleep after true antics of the night before. We met for breakfast at 930 and then headed off for our adventure up Mount Pilatus. We drove to the base of the mountain and then caught a four person cable car for about 30mins which took us the majority of the way up. Then we climbed into a big standing cable car that ...
