After a rough night of sleeplessness, we woke up to beautiful sunshine. Took our time getting ready, and left the house around noon. The sun was still out, but it was chilly, coldest day so far. Took the underground to the main station, then a train to Bingen, switched there, and jumped on another train to Bacharach. It's a really pretty, tiny, town on the Rhine. After a short nap, we're getting good naps, we woke to pouring ...
... huge, grotesque looking US army base. Almost got the camera out - then thought better of it. From here the descent to the Rhine was breathtaking. Wooded valleys the whole way, interspersed with the odd industrial town, including Neustadt where we stopped for some meat in bread (a staple of our German diet).

Enjoyed a river cruise on the Rhine River...about 1&1/2 hours. Stopped in Rudesheim & enjoyed a wine tasting & dinner @ Breur's Rudesheimer Schloss...awesome, sauerkraut & pork! Wonderful German entertainment...music & laughter. Stayed overnight in Wiesbaden @ another 4 Star hotel. Will send pictures separately. Fortunately, we have WiFi on the tour ...

... into a courtyard, and through the much less formal doors. Like the cathedral, there were many sculptures and carvings set up around the outer walls. It was nice inside, but I feared that I was becoming a little church-saturated. Right, bring on the synagogue!
