... to the motorhome so I turned towards a track that I had found the day before and that would take me fairly quickly back home. Unfortunately I took the wrong track which soon petered out leaving me to limp my way across a steep, scrubby hillside covered with loose rocks and gravel, not the best surface to walk on when your confidence has been dented and your foot hurts. It took me an hour and a half to do a half hour walk back.

We arrived this afternoon after driving via Toulouse. The drive up the mountains takes two hours and is a combination of winding roads and tunnels a few times all you could see was a mountain 100 metres ahead and no obvious road until you go around a bend. Its one of the prettiest towns I've ever seen. Snow all gone but now gearing up for summer hikers. Wine 2 euro a bottle, beer 2.50 a pint.I had a few electrical problems but after an hour with ...

... and Carolyn wanted to check out the places they are going to when they are here. So we went off to Vals where there is a very impressive Troglodyte Church with frescoes dating back to 1100 and access via some narrow stairs squeezed into the fissure between two enormous rock formations. There are some wonderful pieces of old furniture inside the church which are of interest too. We went on to Mirepoix which is an old medieval village where there is a ...

Things are never dull for long here. There are always new people arriving, either owners of the other apartments or others arriving in the neighbourhood. An eclectic mix of English, Irish, Dutch with a smattering of French... oh and the builders are Spanish!!

I had a lovely Easter Sunday lunch at Cathy and Tony's who have an old mill house on the banks of the river. We were 8 for drinks and 6 for lunch. Rae has arrived. She is the friend who introduced ...
