The long layover
Mom and I arrived in Madrid this morning at 640 am. Our pilot got on the intercom though shortly after our landing and informed us that due to the "loud noise" the engine causes for the neighboring houses around the airport... we weren't allowed to legally taxi closer toward the gate until 7am. Waiting on a stuffy plane with lots of anxious travelers makes 20 minutes seem a lot longer than it really is.

... the waiters leave the tables alone to enjoy their drinks after they are finished eating but at some point i wish they would come give you the check....it takes an hour to eat a quick lunch in europe cause they leave you alone and never come back. so after we finally got our check we walked to the botanical garden which was kind of boring. then we got on a double decker tour bus and toured the city. it is so pretty in every way and everywhere ...

The suckling pig (7) and lamb (7)were very large portions, and I think that DJ and I would have been better off having one between the two of us and ordering some vegies to accompany the two sorry roast potatoes. The meats were certainly cooked very well and were juicy and tender. However, there was no seasoning. DJ prefers his Chinese style crispy skin pork.
We decided no dessert and left a rather expensive dinner (60 odd euro). ...
