      ... travel with a dog like Norman who will do whatever she wants. The ferry us trip from the airport took about 90 minutes but it was a good introduction to the many islands of Venice.       Today was a day for getting my bearings and getting my vaporetta and tourist passes. Wandered down through the old ghetto and found what must be the safest location for a coffee and a meal, the synagogue and kosher restaurant, which had its own military guard station.       ... stopped people trying to board. Needless to say we had to hand out and let me tell you we did not have small change. Could have put the money where the sun don't shine. We have enjoyed Venice I think because we had this lovely island and the two today allowed us two days of very little crowds to content with. It has been relaxing. Of again tomorrow morning for Rome.       On the train again... The journey from Innsbruck (2 hours south of Salzburg, Austria) through the snowy Austrian alps on our way to Venice Italy was the most beautiful train journey yet.
