The fortress district is unique since many of the buildings within it are palaces that long ago belonged to single families.     Timisoara is known for being one of Romania's most beautiful larger cities, full of pedestrian zones and green spaces. It isn't always high on the list of destinations for tourists to Romania, but became a stop out of convenience for us - reasonable trains and buses to Romanian from Belgrade can be a bit tricky, and since GEA Tours also offered a Belgrade-Timisoara shuttle, it made perfect sense for us to stop a night here.

    Highlight of the day for me was at the Hungary/Romania border, got asked for the bike docs by a Romanian border guard, I gave him an A4 receipt from the hotel in Brno (Written in English) he had a good look and than passed it back with a cheery "Thanks"

    ... are direct buses. There are actually three bus stations on my map so I figure I must have just gone to the wrong one, and the guy suggests that I might try a different bus station a few blocks over so I decide to do that.

    It takes about ten/fifteen minutes to get to the next bus station, which looks a lot more like a bus station. There are bays with numbers and a bigger terminal and a bunch of people waiting around and lots of big coach buses. I go ...

    ... in style and has a ton of trees. It's actually known as "The City of Roses and Parks." There are a ton of gorgeous parks, including the Rose Park. There are three main squares, two of which were unfortunately under construction. They are re-doing the pavements in the roads around and the bricks in the actual squares of about half of the city center as far as I can tell. it's supposed to be done in July 2015, so come here in two summers and it should ...
