Day 16 - The Monte Carlo

We return to the ancestral manse
... which was within smelling distance of La Golondrina. We rarely ate there—it was hardly like going out—but it seemed appropriate for this visit. From our table on the terrasse of the restaurant we could see the roof of our old house.

Cinque Terre - 5 Italian Villages

Our plan was to see all of the villages, but we knew that walking 9km was probably a bit of a stretch – particularly as the information provided said it took about 5 hours due to up and down nature of it. Also at the moment the walkway between Manarola (village 2) and Corniglia (village 3) is closed as it was washed out in a flood in October last year.

Bonjourno Italia!
... and enjoy a relaxing lunch. From here we came across Menton, which turned out to be quite a nice French Riviera town. Fairly big, nice buildings, promenade and beach etc. so we parked had a coffee in the sun and little walk around. This was our final French destination from here it was across the boarder into Italy and to our campsite in San Remo, where we camped literally a stones throw from the water – we were very very happy and an excellent way to start our Italian ...
Living the High Life for a Couple of Days
... on my previous visit, so it was good to have a look about and admire the ceilings and decorations (no photos permitted). Drinks are insanely priced – 25 euro for 1 scotch and coke. But on a gambling side I actually was up after playing roulette. So that was good. We visited another casino and wrapped up the night about 2 am. Good fun!
In between all this, I had been thinking about how to get from Monaco back to Nice in time for my 1030 flight ...
