    ... light blue of the sky …. the white of the Cyclades …. the colours of the flowers in the courtyards …. the grapes growing by the roadsides … the friendly people ….. or the gold of the sun and magnificent sunsets, we will return.

    We depart on a fast ferry from Santorini to Mykonos with a stop at Ios and Paros which is a great way to check out other islands on the way to our destination.

    18 Aug. A bit windy this morning, but as we sail around the Island of Santorini it may improve, and we hope we can get ashore by tender. Just finished breakfast and they have now dropped the anchor at 7.55am.     Arrival time at our hotel was 9:30am. We're staying at Tholos Resort in Imerovigli, it's cliff side but I think I had under estimated how steep it is to get down to the hotel with all our luggage - thank goodness for concierge... Oh and my strong fiancÚ ;-)

    Our room would not be ready until 2pm but we didn't mind at all, we laid by the pool enjoying the incredible view; the ocean as far as you can see, ...

    ... like the donkey is veering towards you on purpose, when really the tracks are overlapping. Seeing a large donkey heading towards me bought out my inner donkey whisper and I quickly worked out that shushing them, sticking one arm out and gently pushing them away from me worked quite well.

    The rest of the walk down was relatively easy, a couple of minor slips to remind you to concentrate on the walk and not the scenery were had, and neither of us was too ...

    ... afternoon the wind blew up and rain followed. There was a short break in the rain and we went out for tea and a quick look at Fira's shops., but it was wet again by the time we left the restaurant and we got soaked coming back to our hotel.
