          ... has aluminum silicate particles in it. (see photos) Their density is sufficient that the entire river looks blue, especialy when the sun shines. The water is very acidic and sometimes smelled like sulphur - not pleasant. The acidity cleaned the rocks comprising the waterfall (catarata). We saw gases bubbling up at places in the river from nearby volcanos. Bubble all you want! Did you know that Costa Rica's landmass is only 3.5 million years old? ...

          ... hotel part had all the staterooms and also had some hot springs. It also had pool with a bar (a drink bar not a metal bar) where I could buy smoothies. Club Rio was more devoted to activities. There were several dozen hot springs along with a rock wall, an animal reserve (I really liked this one because you could feed the large cats like the leopard and jaguar), biking, horseback riding, kayaking, and of course, tubing.           ... guy was not dressed in usual cowboy clothes. He was wearing nothing but a pair of white underpants and may or may not have had a beer in one hand! We all watched in absolute amazement as this guy dressed in just his jocks rode a massive bull, in the dark, for so long that the bull eventually got tired and gave up! He actually had to jump off the bulls back instead of being thrown off! It definitely goes down as one of the most amazing things I have ever seen! The coolest cowboy ever!

          ... dog. And the cicadas chirping (is that what they do?) rather constantly. Sometimes the sounds crescendo to the point where they stop your conversation because they are so dang loud.           ... Some interesting info on Costa Rica. 1) They gave up their military in 1949. They chose to spend their money on education, health care and the environment rather than their military. It has been a democratic country for quite some time, with no revolutions. 2) 27% of the country are protected parks 3) The economy is led by tourism, then agriculture, then the production of microchips. 4) biggest crops are pineapple, bananas and coffee. Anyways, have to go. We are off to make and eat ...
