    ... but from very far away. So it was great to get a close up view. They basically look like a great blue heron, except their bill is very large and kind of boat-shaped. Hence, the name "boat-billed"? Unfortunately it wasn't in a great place for a picture, and we couldn't really linger long.

    ... lava heats the water from underground to 37 degrees. We sat, we drank cocktails, we sat some more. Day three saw the trio volunteer at a wildlife rescue centre.     ... scale of 6 so quite easy and lots of fun! We only went with 2 rafts and had two additional canoe's for safety. We had a lot of fun with everyone in the group and to see the rain forest from the river is amazing!! We saw sloth bears in the trees. They are very cute! Apparently they sleep all day. .

    Our next stop will be Monteverde, a three hour drive from Arenal.

    As we were waiting in the queue to pay our entrance, a hummingbird came right up to David almost as if it was examining what was in his ear. The wind and noise from the flapping wings startled David at first but he held his nerve in front of the crowd until it flew off.
