Last Full Day in Andorra

... having a beer and watching a man try to dig his van out of the snow. To my knowledge his van is to this moment where it was when I left the bar.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to post some pictures of Canillo when it's snowy and the sun comes out. Don't have too many, but figured it was worth a post.

The Two Faces of Andorra

... at 7:30am. However upon arriving at l'Hospitalet all my fears were put to rest.

It's misleading that they call l'Hospitalet a train station, it would be more correct if they called it a gravel lot with vending machines. As I filed into the line to get off the train, eager to find the bus, I grew frustrated that the line wasn't moving faster. When my turn finally came to get off the train I noticed that the line continued straight from the train to ...

Change of Plans?

Found out today that the 90 day tourist visa that I thought we were granted for each country is actually for the combined Senchgen countries. Since we'll be at least 60 days in France alone, it means we won't be doing the France, Italy, Greece and then Turkey route we had planned on in the length of time we'd ...

Tales from the Pit

... piggys eagerly gather at the end and you need to push and shove your way through while the mob tried to attack you to get at the food.

My first time going through I guess I didn’t move fast enough, or was not aggressive enough because the wieners started munching on my legs and shoes. So much that the one got a plastic bit off of my shoe and ate it! Not quite the dinner she had in mind, I don’t think. But it was enough to ...

Brain Food

... on toast it resembled scrambled eggs in both texture and taste. Won’t become my favourite dish, but it was interesting to try out. I can certainly appreciate the effort to use every part of an animal in respect for it giving it’s life, but I did feel a little like Hannibal Lectre. There’s just something in knowing you’re eating brain that doesn’t appeal over all the other organs on an animal.

... and hand hold. Until you get to the point where you can’t seem to make a move at all. Limbs getting sore and there’s no place to set your foot, and no where to grab hold with your hand. Every muscle in your body tense trying to keep you in the place where you re. Mind solely focused on the task at hand. Moving slightly, feeling around, using divets in the rock that are barely visible to support your weight. Ever upward straining ...

... called ‘Patou’ are raised with a herd (Pyrenees mountain dogs). As a result they will guard and defend their animals from any predator they may face - including humans. If you happen to wander in range they will bark furiously and give you many warnings to get away. If you don’t heed the warnings - you’re at your own risk with a fierce dog that comes up to your ...

... for instructions from our guide. Far enough now, and the group waits in solid silence for what comes next.

Perfectly positioned, the guide turns on a single light and we’re blinded with a whole wall full of images! Not just simple line drawing either - they are quite detailed. Many make use of the natural contours of the rock and the shadows that it creates to add life and depth to the images. A truly remarkable sight as image after ...

Drive through the Pyrenees

... my entree was, but everything we had was absolutely devine. So much better than the food in Barcelona. Everything is cooked over a wood grill. There are no sales taxes in Andorra, so it's a big shopping mecca. We stopped at a big two-story store that sells food, spirits, household items and just about anything else you can think of, including stills. They had free samples of some liqueur at the door and the lady looked at me like I had two heads when I said no ...
