    ... footsie, offering her his--actually a--banana. John and I continued to discuss travel; a safari does not turn his crank.

    Omar, Tony, Hugh and the Eyesore are doing today's option [30 TD]. Tony was out there with his money, ready to pay. Told John Omar had nicknamed Maggie May 'the Eyesore'. He chuckled but said that was cruel, the difference with North American humour. More people will do the jeep option later. Have to organize a 'party jeep'.

    ... The lunch was really, really, good. We had an appetizer platter, with a variety of seafood dishes including calamari, shrimp in a spicy red sauce, harissa with bread and tuna, olives, a grilled vegetable mash and olive tappenade. The main course was grilled fish with rice and it was yummy. Desert consisted of lime sorbet and these very, very sweet cookies. (Ugh … serious diet needed!)

    ... amp; we had to remove our shoes before entering. Some old men were reading from the Torah & discussing things when we were there. Next door is a guest house for all the pilgrims. From there we went to see a local potter making pots etc as this is an important local industry.

    In the afternoon we visited Zarsis, surely one of the scruffiest places we have seen so far with not a lot to recommend it to us apart from a small ...
