I do recognize that I have a sort of handicap in Spain. I'm vegetarian, and that is a personal choice. So I don't have much room to whine about being hungry and not finding food to eat, but I'm also the baby of 6 kids, so those whining rights play trump.
Yesterday I had dinner at a Chinese place. Yes, I'm still in Spain. And it was pretty decent. Their tomato soup was rather unique -- egg drop soup with chopped tomatoes. Better than it sounds. Then this morning I had a ...
... enough to tick the box: `went to a nuddist beach´. . . I´m not mental . . and I do not care how much I care.
When we returned Tracy gave us some bad news about our cycling to come. Firstly, there was a heat wave due (last year it hit 57 degrees in land), there is a windy season, and we were about to cross the siera nevada (a massive mountain range). Apparently Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe. This along side the fact that I had ...
... asking to use there computer in an estate agent (they politely refused) and buying a peach in a supermarket just so we could ask the cashier who ended up drawing us a map on the back of a receipt.
After an amazing meal was cooked for us we drank beers and exchanged travelling stories with Tracy (who had backbacked for 8 years). Then off to bed. . . . in an actual bed. normal = good
... to a grocery store Consum and they had everything you could ever want to buy and more. Then we headed for the beach in Palomares Quita Pellejos. The sand was dark but the water was blue and it wasnt as crowded as Garrucha or Mojacar. The best beach was Mojacar white sand and blue blue water and very warm. There is a boulevard that runs along all of these beaches and it is lined with restaurants and souvenir ...

Next day drove around to the town of Cabo de Gata, saw the salt-pans, went up the the "Cape", saw the incredible beach of Cabo de Gata, had great lunch there, then went around to the beach at Monsul. Eventually decided I HAD to leave!!
San Jose, Burgundy, Spain travellerbruce... who told me that he only stopped if someone rang the bell!! I said it was obvious I was a foreigner and that I'd bought the ticket asking to go to the airport. He shrugged and dropped me off at the next stop where I had to wait another hour for a return bus. I rang the bell three times when we re-approached the airport. Picking up the car, I drove into the countryside hills behind Almeria through miles of urban sprawl until eventually finding the motorway heading towards ...

Almeria, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands quatrequart... free. Legend has it the English will leave when the monkeys do, similar to the crows at the Tower of London, so they are protected. The Rock is a military base, and is riddled with natural caves and siege tunnels. Fairly interesting, and makes Gibraltar worthwhile. Wouldn't bother otherwise. Flew out the next day after stocking up the liquor cabinet, back to cold, wet and horrid London. (Who am I kidding? I love it here...!)
Almeria, Spain sylviaenjeroen... the entire history...but it's the parts that matter...to me). They lived in a section of the Albaycin called "Barrio Sacromonte." It was just a VERY small area that housed the Muslims of the town. As the Muslim population grew, The Barrio expanded to include the Albaycin, a larger circle of Muslim influence. The population continued to grow and grow. They built La Alhambra to house Muslim royalty and keep watch over the Albaycin. Then, the Christians came! They overtook the city and the ...
