The city is laid out in grid form, with avenues (avenidas) running roughly east-west and streets (calles) running roughly north-south (the city is sort of diagonally laid out, hence the “roughly”). Our bus from San José dropped us off at about Calle 8 and Avenida 2. Avenida 1 is more like a highway than a street, and runs along the actual port area of the city. We exited the bus into ...

We rise to the sound of the pitter patter sounds of the rain splashing down on the plants outside our window. The room to ourselves allowed for a good night sleep and the rain certainly made it a much more peaceful night. We head out for breakky and cook up some eggs on toast. But the 'quality' kitchen facilities give us some delays and give in to an average meal before heading out to find coffee. The place next door to the hostel apparently whips up a ...

It absolutely begs the question of how much is simply enough, and why it is that we would ever tolerate and feed the beast of "bigger, better, faster, more." Many other thoughts swirl as we prepare to cross the border into Panama, but it's time to wrap this up and move on. I'll leave with a video of Will's very first attempt to stand on a surfboard. Yea, I know- to be 9 years old ...

... etc, but the culture is lacking compared to what we´ve seen so far...and the natural wonders were nothing to take one´s breath away.

Ok, ok, sorry if I´ve brought a raincloud upon you all with the pitfalls of Costa Rica...we did see a couple of unique places, but we were eager to get away from the hoardes of Germans and 19 year old party kids from the States. We whizzed through the entire country in about 10 days.
