Finally i have time to let you all know how stuff is going. Well, the trip from CA to Spain was quite an ordeal. At first i was nervous (i´m not gonna lie), but by the time i was in the air from San Francisco to Chicago i lost my nervousness to complete boredom. I forgot that all the flights i take usually only last an hour or an hour and a half. Here i was reading on my 4 hour flight and thinking "it has to be almost over by now. i´ve been reading forever." OOhhhhhh no. But the upside was th...

Granada is a pretty crazy city, a mix of part Morocco, part Andalucia, part Jewish, toss in some tourists, tapas, and trendy shops and you´ve got a good city. When we arrived, we were fourtunate that our awesome hostel served dinner. Spanish meat (so yes, it was pig), cooked in a huge Paella-type pan with rice and some homemade sangria, and we thought we would never have to leave the hostel! (They had free breakfast and internet too). But, the ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands tommcatt... we ate a pretty interesting lunch. When they put it out none of us really knew what it was. It looked like some sort of dark meat sausage. Other people wanted to know what it was but I made sure no one told me and just dove right in. I’m happy I did because it tasted really good! Turns out it was blood sausage, sounds pretty gross but it’s actually yummy! I ate 2 of them and I’ll definitely eat them again if they’re served ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mrg8920... had a free Flamenco show (2 ladies, very tight pokka-dot dresses, ruffled lower down, often hiked up, stern expressions and pounding shoes; a guitarist who really knew his strings; and a closed-eyed guy singer); “passionate” comes to mind. A nice nightcap.

Today was a free day, a day to re-trace our steps or see some fresh places. Our guide yesterday for ...
... It is a very steep walk uphill and not to mention the killer hear (36C) when I am almost there I realize it is closed on Monday and have to head back. I walk through the city center and see the narrow streets and buildings that are Moorish in architecture. I originally planned on leaving Granada around 8pm, the last bus, but since it was so hot and there are not many 'sites' to go to, I decided to get an early start, and went to the bus station to catch the 3pm bus to Sevilla.
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands aaronstimmel... taxi was $41...more than the $30 we expected but oh well. The weather in Barcelona was sunny and calm as opposed to the wind and clouds we had the previous 3 days. The weather always gets better the day you leave... We arrived at Granada at noon. The airport is smaller than Regina's which is a nice change from the humongous Barcelona airport where you seem to walk for miles. We again decided to take a taxi instead of the 3E Airport ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands pathfinder35... we were all ready, we set off on the two and a half hour bus ride to Granada. We didn´t have a place to stay and really didn´t know much about the town except that it has one of the most famous ancient fortresses in all of Spain called the Alhambra, which dates back to the time when this part of Spain was the Arab capital of the world, in the 8th century! Upon arrival we found a helpful tourist desk which told us which hostel had an opening and what bus we ...
Granada, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mathesonduo... expect so much international cuisine here. One can find Chinese food, Pizza Huts, Sushi, a handful of Burger Kings etc. After several years of working for my good friend Emad (who is Palestinian and an amazing cook) at his pizza shop (Pizzasaurus Rex), middle eastern cuisine has hands down become my favorite of them all. So the last several weeks have involved a lot of late night shawarma and falafel stops throughout the city. These places stay ...
Granada, Spain gibby186x... eyes. And he was a jerk, a cheater and very stupid.* While the church is beautiful, it is small and not nearly as striking as one would think, seeing as how it is the final resting place for (arguably) the most successful King and Queen ever to have existed. The reason the church is so small is that it is only open to the royal family and their guests. Connected to the Capilla Real is the cathedral that was also constructed after the Christians assumed control of ...
