... so I had to go to the counter. My round trip ticket to Mechelen was only 5.40 euro. I guess they have weekend rates where you only pay for a single trip, which is nice. While I was there, I decided to buy my ticket to the airport tomorrow. The first leaves at 4:51, so because my flight leaves at 8:05, I am guessing that should be enough time. A taxi would probably cost me 50 euro, so I'd rather not do that.

We left early to go to Mechelen. We left early so as to take the advantage of a tide on a tidal river. BUT, the journey included the dreaded N13 BRIDGE. Anyway - Dad and I snuck out of the house early this morning at 5am. Standard Noble time keeping by getting to the eurotunnel bang on and not being able to find the bloody booking reference. Eventually gave the patient lady the correct bank card and checked in, grabbing a much needed coffee before boarding the train. ... were beautiful and in the crypt there were the remains of an earlier Romanesque church which had been built over by the later church.

Our next stop was afternoon tea and Belgian waffles with whipped cream,strawberries and melted belgian chocolate......yep calories galore and we savoured every mouthful because they were light and fluffy, cooked superbly and just absolutely delicious. The best waffles I have ever tasted!!!
