... busy making hay and growing potatoes, maize and wheat. These farmers can certainly farm well. At a small village we stopped for coffee and in the restaurant came across some posters showing the fish species that are caught in the region. I took photos for those of you that might be interested.

In one of the villages we came across an old windmill that was still working, so now we have official windmill ...

... decided to drop by at a massive home improvement center which has a display area of 15Ha. Just because of its sheer size we felt that it would be interesting to visit. I'm not really into shopping but we were certainly impressed by the amount of choice in furniture that one can buy in this kind of place. We certainly don't have any similar type of shop in South Africa.

... They are always willing to help and their Dutch language is close enough to Afrikaans that even I can understand them. The drivers of cars have a genuine respect for cyclists and always give way to us lessor mortals. When we are driving in our camper other road users are very considerate and courteous and so far "road rage" is unknown.

... moments, as in we've been here before, we arrived back in camp 52 kms of cycling later.

Apart from navigation confusion, the whole experience was great, as the countryside is stunningly beautiful, with meadows filled with cows and sheep and canals everywhere. The Dutch people are extremely neat and tidy. The houses are all very well maintained with picture book gardens filled with Rhododendrons in various colours. ...
