... Geneva to Milan, I counted five castles, and there could easily have been more.

By the time we crossed into Italy, the sights were even prettier. We were greeted shortly across the border by what we think was Lake Maggiore/heaven. The train didn't stop near the lake, but if it had, I would have been sorely tempted to get off there instead!

... marble". World's largest Gothic church, third largest of any style in Europe. Started in1386, completed in1812. The outside has been recently cleaned and looks wonderful. A work in progress - probably like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, an ongoing clean up job. Looked at the inside, very dark although beautiful, with carved marble columns and more statues.
