... hadn't realised when we stopped in Bellinzona last night that it is a Unesco World Heritage listed site, as it has 3 magnificent castles built in the 13th, 14th & 15th centuries and surrounded by a high city wall, and then surprisingly the weekend was also Unesco 'open house' weekend, so all buildings were open and free to the public.
... town to town. We first went to Varenna and walked around. Then back to Bellagio for lunch on the lake. Then to Managgio and back again to Bellagio. Hello there. If you cant remember where we left off it was our last night in Nice.
I hit the jackpot as it was only us 3 in the room for our early morning departure. Old mate Doctor ******** was in his bed snoring away and it was my turn for revenge. I turned the lights on banged doors opened and closed zips repeatedly near his head to try and pester him and wake him up like he had done to us for the previous 3 nights. Nothing doing. ... La Darsena at 8pm. We were just seated and looking at menu when in walked Peter and Edwina so we changed our tables to sit together. Very relaxed atmosphere with beautiful food. Tried Aperoll as an aperitif as recommended by Edwina. Looked like Tizer! Had pumpkin risotto with venison to start, Stu had lentil with sausage soup. Followed by duck and steak.
