Our next stop was the historical & medieval castle of St Michael's Mount dating back to the 12th century, previously a Benedictine Monastery, fortress, a port & family home. Here our fitness level was tested, at least 500 very steep steps over rugged terrain, but well worth it.

... an attractive market town & the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake, here we discovered the award winning Pannier Marketplace, just wonderful, could have spent hours there. Also passed the famous Dartmoor prison which is soon to cease operation.
Next stop - Port Isaac (Port Wenn for TV) the location of Doc Martin. Saw the Doc's house, Louise's school & Bert's restaurant.

Went for a drive for miles up the coast today, Another tourist trap among many on the North Cornish coast to Tintagel.. It must have been all of 5 miles,(8 K's) along the coast. Managed to park quite close to the track down to the castle access, BUT; the track is easy going down, probably a kilometre mostly down hill occaisionally very steep.

However the day started overcast and we left Penzance at about 9.30am and wended our way through narrow country lanes on the way to St Ives looking for the Chysauster Ancient Village. Found the car park and then started the quite long walk along an access footpath which included and couple of sets of steps, all very much up hill.
