We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
Liechtenstein, Liechtenstein emmasadventures...
Obersaxen, Switzerland acgwhaleWe continued on the roadbook without too much of a problem, driving through some really pretty towns and villages. We stopped at a post office, to get stamps, just in case the postcard shops didn't sell them. The change we got in Liechtenstein came in handy here! The route took us into a small town which had a Subaru dealer, so we stopped for a few bingo card photos. As we drove away from there, we saw a ...
Landquart, Switzerland dirtyweekendersSo, Liechtenstein. the smallest country in Europe. We got stooped at the border, and asked for our passports, and what we were doing there. No problems though, and we were soon on our way.

We were almost immediately at the Capital city, Vaduz. We were definitely not going to miss the chance to do the postcards etc. So we looked for somewhere to park. We drove around a bit and ...
Vaduz, Vaduz, Liechtenstein dirtyweekendersOur third stop of the day was our first in Austria. Now I was entering undiscovered lands! Feldkirch is right on the Switzerland border. The old town centre is surrounded by towers, and a castle sits on a hill above.

We explored Feldkirch and a few of its towers. The old town is quite charming with its colorful buildings, trickling fountains, and small shops. When we tried to ...
Feldkirch, Austrian Alps, Austria travelingdiva... the pedestrian street. I also stopped for a bite to eat in a small kebab eatery.

On the bus back to Sargans, I got off at a stop in Balzers so I could check out another castle - the one we passed on the bus journey to Vaduz. This one is also a private one, it turns out, so I couldn't go inside it either. It sits on top of a steep hill wrapped in vineyards. I walked around a bit until another bus came along and headed back to Sargans.
Vaduz, Liechtenstein travelingdiva... is expensive, the people standoff-ish and sometimes quite rude and Today we started with the train to Chur, then to Zurich. The vaunted French TGV was not running properly so we caught the train to Basel before boarding the TGV to Paris. We are now in the last few minutes of our journey aboard the Eurostar - having enjoyed a pasta meal and bottle of red and prepared to face the real world again on Monday. All and all, quite the great Christmas/New Year Alpine journey.
Arosa, Swiss Alps, Switzerland croxandliltProbably one of the best rides I've had so far! After a couple of short lifts, a fantastic guy picked me up about 30 miles outside of Interlaken, and took me all the way to just south of Liechtenstein. I really hadn't anticipated it being quite so easy to reach the smallest country in Europe! At a grand total of 150 square km, about 7km across at its widest point and almost 30km long, Liechtenstein barely features on most maps and shares it's postal system and ...
Vaduz, Liechtenstein mrconfused8/31/99 Tuesday

Davos to St. MoritzWe woke up this morning to a beautiful, clear, cool morning. We didn't have any large clouds hovering over the mountains like we have had. (NOTE: Today we are off to the winter playground of the rich and famous…St. Moritz, via the Glacier Express. I am really looking forward to this trip.) We have been on the road for about 1/2 hour and the view is "to die for". We are not taking the motorway, instead the mountain roads that wind through ...
St. Moritz, Swiss Alps, Switzerland pemalak... she accompanied me...). (BevNote: I’m no fool, I know my limits. As a matter of fact, while Paul went on, I sat and reveled in the view from where I was sitting. There were several people riding the updrafts with their 'chutes and it was every enjoyable watching them. A nun came up the mountain as I was watching them …she HAD to be around 90…and SHE didn’t have to stop and rest, just put one foot in front of the other and marched up the mountain… ...
