Surprised by a visit from hotel housekeeping - a nice bottle of Spumante and a red rose to celebrate my birthday. Entertained ourselves watching some italian word game show on Rai Uno by which time we were ready to clear our heads of fizz to find food. Short walk downhill, then up again to Spanish steps. Down the steps to find Berninis galleon …

We said goodbye to our friends at breakfast. What delightful people! Then, we were off on our great train adventure. The train was very clean, comfortable and easy. The US could learn a thing or two about trains from Italy!
Rome was really big with lots of cars and people! Our hotel in Rome was the luxurious Hotel Eden. The guest book in the …

Today we spent the better part of the day wandering around the Vatican! I'm pretty sure the Vatican museum people are onto us tourists...we just want to see the Sistine Chapel, but they insist on snaking you through this crazy maze that takes hours to push through until finally, they spill you into the Sistine! Finally!!! By that time, I've seen so much art that my head is spinning! It really was quite spectacular though! You ...

Today we finally managed entry to St Peters Bascilica - no crowds at 8am in the morning .Tom then humoured my wish to travel the Via Appia - but my experience today didn't match my memories of 1974.We then returned to il centro for a quick walk around the Jewish ghetto. And now we are packing ready for our departure tomorrow.

Hope you have enjoyed our stories Best wishes. Marilyn.

... we went onto the Sistine Chapel.... The tour continued to be ok for another 1/2 an hour or so ; the queue for the S Chapel was so long, our guide said it was the busiest she'd seen in 14 years. Apparently tour groups can usually jump the queue halfway through the pre chapel galleries but it was so busy that they closed off this option. At this stage our tour guide was so annoyed and we were fed up ...

Great boutique hotel near Spanish Steps. A little off the beaten path. Charming.

Our room was spacious and the amenities are nicer than most hotels in Europe. It is a fabulous location near the Spanish steps.

    Start saving!

    from

Excellent hotel - though very expensive. Dinner there was also very good (again very expensive though).

    Nice, but expensive...

    from

Stayed at the Eden over Thanksgiving 2004. Staff upgraded room as we were celebrating our anniversary. Small, but nice accomodations. Lovely bathrooms. Good location...within walking distance of Borghese Gallery, Spanish Steps, Trevi fountain, Via Veneto, etc. Watch restaurant charges...paid 99 euros for very average continental breakfast. Would stay again if reduced rates were available. Very pleasant stay overall.

    Fabulous Eden!

    from

"Fabulous" is definitely the right word to describe this small and charming hotel.

    Worth the raves!

    from

This hotel is definitely worth the raves it receives! My husband and I have just returned from an absolutely fantastic stay at the Hotel Eden Rome. It surpassed all expectations from the minute we walked in to the minute we got in the cab to (sadly) leave. This hotel has the highest quality of everything - bed linens, towels, amenities, water pressure, breakfast etc, etc, etc. You will not be disappointed!

Quiet Oasis Close to Crowds at Spanish Steps

    from

If you are looking to experience Roma in a more residential and plush location away from the tourist sites, yet close enough within walking distance of the Spanish Steps, then stay here. Concierge, doormen, front desk staff and housekeeping helped make for a wonderful holiday with very little to complain -- 5 Stars are well deserved. Most other hotels in this category in the center of Roma do not have the quiet location away from major streets - it is ideally situated and offers impeccable service: genuine smiles abound upon entering the property. Plush robes, slippers, extra hand towels, foot towels, mini-bar, many choices! Don't forget to dine atop the hotel's signature restaurant Terrazza Della Eden with their infamous views! Threw our coins into Trevi so, we shall return and will certainly stay at Hotel Eden.

    5 star hotel

    from

Indeed it is a Le Meridien 5 star hotel. Friendly staff, clean wih a nice decor. Our room was small with a medium size marble bathroom, equipped with luxurious toiletries including a bath rope, facing an interior courtyard. The location was not the best, in a quiet neighborhood, walking distance to the Spanish Steps & the Via Veneto. The buffet breakfast served in the restaurant in the top floor included in our fare was superb, with a nice view. But for more than $500.00 a night, next time in Rome I'll stay in another hotel.

Friendly hotel in a potentially unfriendly city

    from

The Hotel Eden was a fantastic place to stay after the hustle and bustle and sights of Rome. I loved the comfort of coming back to the people of the Hotel Eden after dealing with the rudeness I often encountered during my sight-seeing throughout the day. The concierge was especially friendly and helpful and did everything from book a guide or restaurant to mailing postcards back to the States. If you're looking for a comfortable room as well, this is your place! I didn't sleep in a more soft and comfortable bed that the Eden during my entire trip to Italy. Enjoy!!

    Highlight of our honeymoon

    from

We spent the last night of our honeymoon here, and loved the pampering touches. The staff was eager & helpful, and we arrived to a welcoming basket in our room with a complimentary bottle of champagne, chocolates, etc. Charming! Dinner at La Terraza was terrific, with a great panoramic view of the city. Simply perfect accommodations (but at a substantial price, of course).

    Mmmmm...Perfect!!

    from

2nd Wedding Anniversary here for 3 days. Perefct, great staff, excellent manner, attention, detial care and service. Great terrace for lunch and breakfast, super views of the City and walking distance to the top of the Spanish Steps, othe rthan the Russie hard to beat this class act. We would return to this hotel wiothout thinking....it is a credit to the team that run it.Gary Wigglesworth

    Home Away From Home

    from

I recently stayed at this hotel on my own for four days. It's expensive but it's definitely worth it (especially considering most hotels in Rome are expensive anyway) if you want to feel really at home in Rome.
