... had been the location for the filming of the "Grand Old Budapest Hotel" movie, in which an old department store had been refurbished and renovated for the film. I think they now plan on turning it back into a department store. David was pretty chuffed as he loved this movie, so we set off to find the building. First we sat and enjoyed a yummy German sausage and some cherries that we bought at a local market. The buildings in town were about as cute ...

... that was used in the Oscar winning movie The Grand Budapest Hotel, which was formerly a department store in the day and is now being renovated like so many other old buildings in this city. Spectacular!
Even though we struck out on genealogy we discovered a most beautiful intact medieval town, undamaged by the war.
A town to be remember and returned to. ...

Only update were I'm now.
Cut my day a bit short yesterday, because of bad weather. Stopped just short of Goerliz.
120 km, through wet and slippery bikeways, crossing the "Saxon Schweiz", very challenging!

... and even some mausoleums. There was a plaque set into the rock wall telling of the history of the making of the path – it was astonishing to think it was started in 1512 and hewn by hand: the chisel marks were all still visible.


Half way round, a fine rain started falling so we sheltered under an overhanging rock, feeling very sorry for the wedding party who would be getting extremely wet given ...
