... own. We started with a traditional Swiss fondue, sausage and rosti for lunch. It was quite nice, but apparently Nana and Grandpa Cook's was better!

After lunch we did some exploring. We walked across the wooden bridge called the Lucerne Chapel Bridge. It was built in the 17th century but in 1993 someone dropped a cigarette over the side and it landed on the canvas of a boat moored underneath. We needed to get the Switzerland experience, so we went up to Mount Titlis. It was the highest mountain that we could access. Jungfrauhof & Pilatus did not have their cable cars running.
Mount Titles is in the town of Engelberg, such a lovely town & I can imagine how it would be in winter with all the accommodation packed.

... We decided to head back down to the lake at Trubsee the station where you switch from the 1st to 2nd cable ways and spend some time there.

Despite Kirst and I not getting to sing "the hills are alive with the sound of music" at the top of Titlis our first day in Switzerland has been great. The quote for the day has to be the young American couple walking past us the guy asking "is that a natural feature" and the girls replying "what the Eifel Tower"

... it was time out for some shopping and a bite to eat. During the Christmas period, Lucerne has many shopping stalls and displays set up in the streets of the old part of town. During our shopping, we purchased a beautiful cuckoo clock which will be shipped home.

Tomorrow we leave picturesque Lucerne, and head to Zurich for a few nights.

... been raining in town and it was quite foggy, so we were grateful that we had a great day up at Mt. Titlis. That night the fog rolled in and covered the mountain and town below, we woke the next morning the same weather.
