... from the peak, felt chilled as the clouds formed and passed over us, and enjoyed the melodious sounds from the Swiss Alphorn players. We chose to take a cable car down from the peak to Kriens, in order to enjoy another view and experience. Then, instead of taking the easy option of the bus, we hiked the 2.75 miles back to Luzern - through residential, commercial, and historical parts of town to make it back to the hotel just short of noon.

... The busabout guide told us more souvenir shops per capita than anywhere else in the world. Shoppers paradise? Only if you are into cow bells, Swiss Army knives & Swiss watches. The Asian tourists go mad for watches. We are told bus loads come from everywhere just to buy Swiss watches. The most expensive we see in the window is 84000 francs which is over 84 thousand Australian dollars. We have lunch at hooters, yep you heard right. Grant is fondued out from the cheese ...

and winter; the village features a view of the three towering mountains:
Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Mürren has a population of just 450, but has 2,000 hotel beds.Mürren has its own school and two churches, one Reformed and one Roman Catholic.

Dinner: salad, cheese fondue, chicken, chocolate mousse.
Enjoyed local accordion music after dinner.

... named for our hotel -- probably the other way around -- "Staubbach". "Bach" is I think the word for waterfall. "Staub" must be a family name for the hotel that was established in 1890.
