Hotel Ebnet Garni Lindau

We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!

After a week in Basel we jumped on the train to visit my Uncle and Aunt (Heinz and Elsa) in Gossau – a small town in the north east of Switzerland. On the way we spent a few hours in Zurich where we just wandered around the city centre, had lunch and sat by the lake. Heinz and Elsa met us at the train station and walked us back to their place – about 2 minutes away! They took us for a drive up to a place which gives a great view over St Gallen ...

... 8:30 and walking towards Brerganz, Austria. You can see it across the river, about six miles to walk. Yup, I do normally 3 mph and at 10:30 I was there. ... Feldkirch I got lost. Actually I was just trying to get to McDonald's because the group wanted a bathroom break and the public toilets here were not to our standards. Anyway, I drove past the McDonald's twice - once my fault and once the navigator's - and drove down a pedestrian only section of road before we gave up and continued on our journey out of town and deeper into Austria.

... weren't too interested so they took Lincoln (who couldn't go with us) and we went to have a look. It was a rewarding visit. It is amazing to think how long ago some of those books and transcripts were written, and how well cared for they must be to remain in excellent condition. The library itself is breathtaking, with leather bound books lining the shelves, large windows (no doubt filtered), elaborate woodwork and staircases, and a muraled ceiling ...

... did not seem nearly as far either! The next morning, Dad took us on a tour of the apple orchard harvesting he had seen on his early morning walk. It was so cool to see the apples on the trees and men were actually picking them. We also saw tractors with crates full of apples taking the goods to some type of warehouse. Pretty cool... Finally, we walked around the island where the Alstadt (old town) before leaving ...

... thru 4 countries in one day!) The next leg of our journey took us to Fussion Germany in the Bavarian region. I couldn't say exactly what was more impressive the castles or the beer, but both are unforgettable. We spent the day touring two castles built by King Ludwig II. Neuschwanstein castle was exactly what you would picture when you think of a fairy tale castle. In fact Disney Land replicated much of it when building its own castle. Inside and ...

Today we drove to Lindau, Germany, and did our own walking tour. Lindau is an island in the eastern part of Lake Constance. It was quite overcast, but still lovely. I'm sure that on a warm summer day it would be filled with people sitting in the sun and enjoying all the open air cafes.
