... to Christmas, it just doesn’t feel right. No one has decided the opening date yet and a friend that normally works there all the time has had to sign on as there is no work. Having spent 5m euros of the 50m budget this year on improvements, the resort managers must be very worried. As we left Lourdes behind, a glance over our left shoulders towards the Pyrenees revealed the places where we had such a good time, covered with snow. Proper thick snow, that although undoubtable beautiful, would have wrecked the riding of the last few days.

Its been truly magical, we have been so lucky.

... if you wanted. There were so many religious shops selling everything religious you can think of right next to each other. There would have had to be about 100 of them in Lourdes. We also saw so many priests and nuns in full outfits strolling around. Prayers, masses, rosary and confession go all day every day. You can buy candles that are 2m high to put at the alters. ... sheer vertical cliffs suddenly reached up into the sky. We stopped again in the small village of Arudy, the flower village.
