Chur and the train trip to Morges
A pretty rugged night sleep but we know that tonight we will be back in Morges in beds that we will sleep well. A few hours to kill so we look around Chur, a lovely place and we note a Gondola - aerial this time - thinking this could be a good thing to do. So off we head. This gondola goes 1.6k up so a pretty good sight we get of the Chur valley and the surrounding mountains. As the gondola climbs the cows below us ring out a tune via their bells as they graze ...

There was quite a bit of traffic on the road and I distinctly remember quite a number of Porsches passing me in both directions - I think I counted over twelve of them. Stocked with groceries and very thrilled that we’d gotten to see the cows return from the Alps, we headed back to camp and settled in for the rest of the afternoon. ...
Barfussweg
... turns out that tomorrow, two herds of cows would be returning from their summer grazing in the high Alps! We thought we had missed this annual event because we had seen cows grazing in the fields near our campsite. We were super excited that we were in time to witness this important event. The decision to bring the herd down from the Alps is made about a day or two before by the head farmer so there isn’t a lot of forewarning. In ...
