... We lunched there, which consisted of a swiss bread roll with fresh ham and gruyere cheese, of course; no choice on the content - the heavy dose of mustard too much for Marianne. The chocolate that David and Suzanne had with coffee was a local speciality- a milk choc cup with Gruyere cream in it - sensational! The hot chocolate was our best yet as well. David said his sandwich was the best ever! The mustard was a highlight for him. Then on through more ...

Despite being an individual state, there is a huge exchange and interconnection with the EU, especially monetarily. It's quite a paradox because the Swiss are so proud of their direct democracy but they don't hold a vote in the EU even though they are so involved in its work.

... it is dusk, dawn, noon or night. Finally the view from the top is epic.

After walking more through the old town I get back to central station and discover I need a pretzel. Then I notice a crowd of people, if there is this many it must be good, I push in. A tent and banner 'Feuerwerk', my German isn't perfect but I can guess. There are hundreds of fireworks of all different sizes I grab a basket and fill it with what my budget allows. I look ...
