Impressive Wipeouts and Fun in the Sun

... tell the Bosun, Andrew, was getting frustrated with him since it was his job to make sure he knew what he was doing and that he was doing it safely. Every time Kevie would slam into the platform, Andrew would look up over his shoulder to see of anyone on the decks above was watching. Andrew finally got on the Jet Ski and then showed him exactly what to do to avoid a hard landing. After that he got it.

Stee had to finish some work before he ...

Sterile Porto Cervo

Porto Cervo is an unusual place since it's all very new. Nothing was here in the 60’s and most of the buildings are from the 1980s. This is a playground for the rich and famous, and understandably so with the reliable winds in the Straits of Bonifacio, the remote white sand beaches with emerald green waters, and the rugged coastline and many picturesque islands.

We arrived in Porto Cervo last night and ...

We ate dinner on the upper deck as we cruised out of Bonifacio and towards Cala de Volpe in Sardinia. It was a beautiful sunset over the ocean with Corsica framing the view.

Staying on a Farm

... cured ham, eggs, and honey from the farm. They packed the breakfast items in a basket and delivered it to your cabin the night before. Then, in the morning, you would "cook" your own breakfast in your cabin. Every night, they hosted dinner in the main building of the farm, and it was always AWESOME. You sit down and they bring you a large jug of local red wine to the table (wine from the vineyard down the road). Everything else you would have was made on the farm. First, they ...

Tour of Southern Corsica

Day 177. Laundry. Internet, beach.....relax 8/10/08 And that really was the day. Claudia & Wolfgang kindly drove us from Porto-Vecchio to Plage de Santa Guilia in their rented car at midday. They changed their plans and stayed on the beach returning us to the hotel in the evening. It was then officially a sad goodbye to them. Day 178. First Scoot 9/10/08 We had to change hotels due to refurbishments and wait for our scooters to be delivered. So ...

The Birthday Party Starts.......

... Dutch etc. They all have their ideas about one another, which is very entertaining from a non European perspective. We just don't have neighbours like this in Australia. Who the hell knows what think of us! They intend to sail to Australia in a couple of years time and hopefully we can catch up with them again for another night of laughs. The next day we left Bonafacio and sailed back across to Sardinia to spend our last night with the Sutherlands on ...

GR20 Stage 15

Day 176. Trip to Conca, final stage 7/10/08 Stage 15, 5hrs, 12kms An easier day descending below 1000 meters for the first time in 6 days, although more ascending than expected! We caught up with the Canadian girls and English lady after 3 hours reaching the stream and dipping pool together. We finished the trek in Conca together catching a cab together to Porto-Vecchio. There we sorted out a ...

... on it was slow progress. His knee was braced and he had the help of his poles for support. But even Sebastian and I struggled with the decent to Bavella village. Very loose stones and a poorly marked path made for an interesting down hill ride. But we made it to the village were we relaxed to the the tune of 2 local chestnut beers each. First bit of alcohol in a week! Claudia and Wolfgang ...

Tough Act to Follow

... This brought us up and over the Col de Bavella, to Solenzara on the east coast, then south to the beautiful Bonifacio on the southern tip, where our Corsican leg finished up. Highlights Cap Corse - By far one of our favorite spots, the northern tip is a peninsula that is the most wild and unspoilt part of the island. Due to its geographical features of steep, rugged hillsides that drop straight down to the sea, it doesn't lend itself well to building large ...
