... I just continued and found strength I wasn’t sure that I had. From the top, we descended slowly into Ostabat. We stopped there for cold lemonades and directions to our refuge. It was only 1km away, and I eagerly walked this last bit. The refuge was advertised as being Basque-run, and it indeed had the look typical to Basque homes. It was also a working farm and we were promised a dinner fresh from the farm. Here, we again met ...

... berries from the trees. There was a large statue of Saint Jacques, and we all paused for a photo together.

Unfortunately, we only had the cookies and berries to eat today. There was supposed to be a bakery on the trail, but when we passed the place, it looked as if it had been closed for months. Day 45- As our options for lodgings were limited, we only had two choices for walking today. We could walk 13km or 28km. 13km was not really enough, but we're not sure if I can manage 28km right now. So, we were left with no choice but to walk the 13. However, we found that during the walk today, I was able to maintain a much better speed, which means that I am slowly getting better, and I must be doing something right. There were a lot of hills in the ...

... Italy and France. It's amazing what you see walking. The highlights of this never ending holiday have so far been San Gimignano, Sienna and Assisi. In France it has been Conques, D'Estaing, Cahors and the beautiful bastide towns, spectacular rural scenery and gorgeous little villages and hamlets we have walked through. Of course it also comes down to food and it has been fabulous. My only complaint is petite dejeuner, it has such an emphasis on petite. ...
