In a way I wish I could go back to the 1998 version of Bern, but I know that the me of 2013 would not revel in the simplicity of then (though maybe in the prices).
There was some gentle snow and the old town was as charming as an old town can be covered in grey sky.
Ultimately, this time in Bern made me reconsider returning to the places of memory.

After, we got on a train to Basel where we walked around the city to St. Jakob park where the local football team plays. Basel is different from all the other Swiss cities. Itäs more like an American, modern, industrial city so it was hot, stuffy, and extremely polluted.

Kuru hospitality is just so absolutely lovely. Sid and Muneera treated me to a wonderful Sunday and Rais charmed me from the moment he crawled out of his cot. Scrambled eggs (they are getting better every time I visit, Sid!) and croissants combined for a very relaxed breakfast and Rais provided the entertainment with a repertoire of hoovering, CBeebies dancing and lion impressions.
