... to walk a reasonable distance to the lot where they parked their cars. Even finding the car was easy. BUT trying to work out how to start the car and then how to use the GPS took quite some time!!! We were given a Lexus Hybrid which looked very smart and had a built in GPS. One does not need a key to start this car, just a press of the button - yes? NO! After trying foot on brakes, foot off brakes, foot brake on, foot brake off ... we finally got the car ...

... salad baguette, and a nectarine for dessert. All washed down with some red wine produced with in the local area. Lunch was accompanied by the beautiful song of a number of Red Goats, actually called Red Throats. They are a type of bird, however, François mixed up the word goat and throat when translating their name for us. We saw many more Red Goats throughout the day, and some Orange Goats too.
After lunch we continued our ride further ...

I have been wanting to visit this place ever since I first heard about it on arrival in Angers. It's only open from April until about October and I had been putting off going until Les arrived. ... and it was easy to feel like you could step back in history. The kitchens in particular - although not furnished - had that history feel about them - so easy to imagine people working there and going about their daily lives.

We also discovered that in the grounds was an actual farm, which I am not sure was either a reconstruction of the original or a restoration based on what was left. Not that it mattered - we had fun looking around and ...

... and attending the service on Friday. Australians were everywhere! So, we sat and had a chat and it was nice to run into people from home.

At 2.30am on Friday 25 April, Les and I crawled bleary eyed out of bed and made our way to the meeting point for the buses to take us to Villers-Bretonneux.
