... savouries followed by a wonderful duck breast in a yummy sauce with fresh vegetables. We did the French way by having the cheese course next with a range of 9 different cheeses, many local. Finally a lemon dessert with biscuit base topped with a light lemony, creamy mixture - delicious. Together with a champagne and a local rose it was a scrumptious meal with great company. ... had a bike the trip began. The journey along the Loire river is beautiful. Full of birds, trees, cottages, and lovely old towns with stone buildings and cobbled streets. We also passed a variety of farm animals and some vineyards.

... and it was easy to feel like you could step back in history. The kitchens in particular - although not furnished - had that history feel about them - so easy to imagine people working there and going about their daily lives.

We also discovered that in the grounds was an actual farm, which I am not sure was either a reconstruction of the original or a restoration based on what was left. Not that it mattered - we had fun looking around and ...
