We decided to go north to do the bike tracks we missed out the other day, calling in to the market at La Gueriniere on the way.
Nothing too exciting – just another day at L'Herbaudiere.

Woke up this morning to light rain, wind and heavy cloud. Very windy in the night – the tent was creaking and flapping wildly. Got up late and had breakfast inside. Watched "Earth after Man" on the internet in bed and waited until the weather got a bit better.

L’Herbaudiere seems the most "real" town so far on the island. It has a port and offers scuba diving. Had a coffee and carried on down the west coast of the island to stop at Plage de Luzeronde, a long sandy beach but near deserted today. Tried to find our way through the salt pens (marais salants) but very tricky although great photo opportunities for birds but the herons continue to elude me. They fly ...

This area seemed quite well heeled with large houses situated in the Bois de la Chaise and then we continued inland past the nature reserve.
Plenty of photo opportunities, including a great long distance view of the chateau and church which are situated side by side on the edge of the town.
