Boezingenstrasse 51 Biel, Bern, Switzerland, 2502
... yes this did mean I wore runners with my work outfit to work every day) and then along a road with no footpath. The worst part was coming home after dark, because there was no lighting whatsoever and walking along a narrow road when no one could see you was pretty dangerous, as was walking home behind the industrial area. Then the train took 20 minutes to get to Basel and from there I would have to take a tram for 15 minutes to get across the other side of the city to where ...
... of the rain and caught a tram back to Cedrics, who then drove us home and tonight we had a boring night of pizza and movies. Which wasn't really boring at all cause I haven't had a pizza and movie night in nearly forever and it was great! The plan for the next couple of days involves a little more exploring of some of the lakes tomorrow, then Monday me and Desiree are catching the train down to an area called Zermatt, the location of one of Switzerlands most famous mountains, the Matterhorn.
Bern, Bern, Switzerland lovin_apples... eyeing the ogre eating many little children, we headed off from Bern to our next stop. Matt and I had originally planned to go to Zurich, but after checking out the guidebooks, a little town called Luzern looked really neat. Plus, it's a bit smaller, which is sometimes nicer for backpackers. Plus Luzern is right where the eastern alps meet the western alps, and I wanted to see alps on my trip to swiss-land. So, a short train ride ...
Bern, Switzerland elizabessie... and a compact downtown there is a real small town feel to the place... I guess that's a large part of its charm. And charming it is; its medieval street plan with its arcades, street fountains & doughty towers set amongst quiet, traffic-free, cobbled lanes, lined with sandstone arcaded buildings, have changed barely at all in over five hundred years but for the adornment of modern shop signs and the odd car or tram rattling past. That the town looks so good ...

Lucerne, Switzerland jescoJuly 30 Switzerland! Many are aware of two things Switzerland is known for 1) Toblerone and 2) Swiss Army Knives. Both of which I did not participate in- only because I know my dad has about a thousand swiss army knives stashed away at home and I can get a nice pack of Toblerone at my nearest Costco. =] but Fun Fact: A WHITE Swiss army knife means its authentic and made ...

Gold Coast, Switzerland 70onabike... they had just graduated. Reminded me of my sisters friends - I'm just definitely a lot older than I was when I was traveling rightout of college. Got up this morning and walked around teh GORGEOUS town with the mountions and the green water and found the best hostel I have ever stayed in. All hostels should be modeled after this one (Backpackers Villa). Took it easy and just walked around the town all day ...
Interlaken, Switzerland beth... to rain. That night we had dinner at a Bavarian beer hall and tried out the 1 litre stein beers. There was lots of great German entertainment (the girls in traditional dress & lots of bell ringing) and lots of laughs that night before heading back to the hotel bar. Continuing our travels, we drove 3 hours south into the Austrian Tirol where we went white water rafting on grade 3 rapids down a 16km stretch in 5 degree water and did these amazing things in the ...
