Hotel Drei Konige Am Rhein Basel

Today in Basel was an extreme let down. In all the times I have been let down, they have never been on an international scale. I came especially to Basel to see a mate from the Navy days, and she only happened to tell me last week, after booking hotels, flights etc. that she no longer lives in Basel. So I had been trying in vain to reach her and ask where and if she wanted to meet up in another town or here, whatever. But no reply. Not even today ...

I have had to work the last two days but I managed to leave a bit early today so I could talk my parents to the Van Gogh Landscapes exhibit at the Kuntsmuseum.

Après 2 jours à Mulhouse, dont on fait assez vite le tour, autant profiter de l'occasion pour se dépayser complètement.. direction Bâle, 20 minutes de train pour se retrouver plongée dans une ambiance complètement différente, en plain Pays alémanique. Heureusement que j'ai quelques vieux souvenirs d'allemande du Collège/Lycée, ça aide beaucoup ...

... mais c'est déjà dépaysant. après le musée des Beaux Arts le Dimanche Matin, on profite d'un temps digne de celui que j'ai laissé sur Avignon pour aller prendre l'air et la verdure au parc Botanique et zoologique de Mulhouse qui vaut vraiment un détour.

This weekend from the 28th to 30th, Basel is celebrating Klosterbergfest. We decided to check it out last night after work with all our Brazilian friends. These Brazilians are always on the ball with Brazilian-type events and seem to know whenever a new Brazilian is in town, which is why I am continually meeting Brazilians.

Tonight BB invited me out for a drink and took me to this fantastic pub. It's quite small and when you enter it's not all that impressive. However, the ceiling is decorated with hundreds of beer steins and mugs and other beer articles from a variety of breweries across the world. They claim there are 1500 beer articles on display. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the town, popping into C&A just to see how it compared to the old English stores before they shut down. 10:40am I'm on a train yet again, this time I'm headed to Strasbourg France. Basel was wonderful, it was a nice quaint little city.
