... who wanted money for the privalge of seeing them from the road, they got nothing. Essouria is a nice town with lots of things that would interest tourists. I bought a couple of CDs of Arabic music from one of the local sellers.
Lunch on the main plaza.
After several hours of wandering the city it was time to head to camp. Tonight we had a great location on the beach just a short drive from the city. Great sunset from the tent overlooking the ...
... caught up. As for me? I'm in team sleep-a-lot. Well as much as a girl can when expected to rise at 6.30. Suzy and I have discussed the possibility of joining the walkers and maybe progressing to running, though not in the league of team hardcore. It'll take us 9 months of solid training before we even come close to joining them! Our efforts may be thwarted however as tomorrow we cross over into Mauritania, a place unsuitable for solo travel ...
Boujdour, Western Sahara jpbigan... of cheese, and one slice of turkey affairs that were so common with our group) in a gas station's parking lot near the military checkpoint into Western Sahara territory. There were only a few settlements south of that line, the largest being Laayoune, the territory's capital. Laayoune, however, looked like a ghost city that day, the streets almost completely deserted as people were home celebrating the Eid-Al-Fitr feast at Ramadan's end. The southern two ...
Hihi trop drole. Dakhla est une petite ville ...
Dakhla, Western Sahara mari87It seems like an awfully long time ago that we left Fes. We always intended to spend a few weeks in Morocco, mainly because it is a country I have wanted to visit ever since planning grandiose Saharan motorbike tours many years ago, none of which ever saw the light of day. We have been here for the best part of four weeks now and seen some wonderful sights, fantastic scenery, experienced a taste of getting off road and into the desert, and encountered perhaps more than our fair ...
Dakhla, Western Sahara bronwen... food. Him: Yes. Us: Do you have a menu? Him: No menu, only tajine. Us: Do you have a vegetable tajine? Him: Yes, one moment (We wait whilst he goes out the back of the cafe, he returns a couple of minutes later with a tajine pot lifts the lid and waves it under our noses. At this point we are a little suspicious about how long this has been sitting around, the hygine of the cafe and what exactly is in the tajine). Us: Is it a vegetable tajine? Him: Yes ...
