    ... to find out what would happen if they wrapped in the gears. I pulled over to tie and tuck them in; no issue but was at the end of the group as I needed to catch up. I also noticed that the sun was strong and the trail was hard to see the hazards as the early morning had the sun right in our eyes.     ... fascinating. Then there was a video and the actual items displayed of an amateur archeology team which in 1992 discovered a trench system and many items that had been in the sludge. When they pulled them out they were in amazing condition. There were individual stories and an amazing video of a doctor & two nurses giving accounts of what it was like at a Clearing Station (like a mobile hospital which were near a railway so the patients could be transported, like at Vignacourt.) ...

    ... is a plaque about him. Philippe ended the tour by reading out John McCrae’s poem, In Flanders Fields. McCrae died in his early 40s, in 1918, of a lung infection. He had discarded his poem, but a friend found it. Poppies grow wild here, but they’re late blooming this year. Wish I could have seen them.
