... After about an hour or so the mist disappears and sunshine fills the sky......and the temperature quickly rises to a lovely 24c........!

We arrive at our Albergo and find it is part of a brewery ..... So we test the ale! Dinner is served in the adjoining restaurant ..... Also part of the brewery.....could/ should b a good this ...

We celebrated our last night with Ian and Cassandra with a typical Italian meal of salad and pasta. The 'funghi' season is in full flow in Genoa and the fresh mushrooms we eat in the pasta had a marvellously intense flavour - must try to get better ones when I'm home! We also drank a very nice red called Luna Rossa, which given the 'super blood moon' we thought very appropriate.

... Ritchie shouts as he overtakes. David says he's more of a stagiaire (even lower) than a domestique but the truth is, for a guy who's not been on a bike for a fortnight, he is awesome on day one. It's so great to be cycling together again; tapping out our familiar rhythm.

... turned out to be all about cigars! Hand rolled and then finish rolled between virgin thighs. We clearly missed a highlight. The Enoteca Grand Sala at Cheese was also good fun - buy your tickets then choose your cheese and wine from a ridiculously large selection. We finished our Piedmonte and slow food extravaganza with a spa day in Acqui Terme and dinner at Bocondivino, a slow food partnered restaurant in Bra. Rabbit was good, so was the ...

... owner was a very friendly guy who sat with us for some time. He was a wonderful ambassador for his country and loved practicing his English on us. The feeling was mutual. We continued on to our Hotel Giardi Resort in the town of Imperia. It turned out to have a fabulous view of the coast, the autostrada and the surrounding hillside villages but had probably seen better days. We had a lazy afternoon and dinner in house in anticipation of another day on the road ...
