... the euro. I can't blame them really. From what i could gather, Poland was becoming more and more expensive, yet wages hadn't kept pace. It was a similar story in most of eastern Europe. The barbecue Anita's uncle put on that afternoon was by far the best meal I have had in years. It was just barbied bits of flesh, but the meat was so tender and delicious. Something hard to find back in London.

Three days went quickly, and before we knew it ...

Jelenia Gora & Magical Mountains

... Mountains is part of the larger Sudetes range. Its highest peak is Sniezka which stands on the border between the Poland and Czech Republic - at a height of 1602 meters above sea level. The mountains are wonderful for trekking and ski. Large areas of the mountains are preserved as National Park.

To see photos from Jelenia Gora and Mountains please click here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =7KSPFn6p9Y0

... the north of the country as planned, we also popped back into Germany a few times, Sharon felt a bit safer free camping in Germany as its more accepted and there are more rest stops. This also meant we got to check out Dresden which was as expected really nice, it reminded me of a very compact Paris, lots of buildings in a style not normally associated with Germany but carefully restored to something near its former glory since the war. The center of Dresden ...

al the former eastern bloc countries make for good travel,, but the one that i return to is the czech republic,, mainly to the north [north bohemia],liberec, harrochov, cesky raj, but a trip or two to moravia is also worth taking,,. during the communist times it was an eye opener, now also as the people wish for the return of those times, they knew where their bread was coming from, and the upgrades fron old skoda to super fast motorcars,, ah they stilll are crazy on the roads

Vikend v Liberci

Tento vikend sme s kamosmi v Liberci na severe Ciech. Prisli sme sem rovno zo San Diega, tak je to trochu teplotny sok. Ked sme s Dzozim odchadzali zo San Diega bolo krasnych 26 stupnov, ale ked sme prisli do Liberca bolo len okolo desat stupnov a poriadny vietor. Ale ako sa hovori, poriadne planovanie robi ...

... rain delay of the trip. We were camping just outside the town of Podebrady, and it rained all evening, all night, and all morning. It was too gross to contemplate, so we decided to sit it out. Well, most of a novel, a couple beers, and 3 hours of Olympic track and field coverage later (the campground had a restaurant, with TV) it actually did stop raining. By then it was 5 pm so we chalked that day up to Recovery. We DID learn that ...

back in Poland!!!!!!!

... that most of people travel to Poland through Germany, which was pointless for us. Therefore we took another bus to H... something, and from there we hitchhiked twice to Szklarska Poreba. Finally at home! Well, almost. Afterwards we took a Polish coach to Jelenia Gora and from there we had a journey straight towards home - to Wroclaw and Opole. We wanted to spend the upcoming night in our own beds, that`s why the last ...

... was a short 2km hike up the side of the road to a chairlift which was to carry us 528m up the range to Mt Kopa (1375m). It wouldn't have been difficult to hike all the way up, but with only a couple of hours we decided to make the most of our time higher up. There was a lot of snow at the top, and despite the threat of the clouds gathering above us we decided to press on to the summit of Mt Sniezka, which looked a lot more imposing from closer up. The trail ran alongside the Czech border ...

... or not, desperately trying to work out what we think fuel will cost and what its advertised. Only when we get back we find its 40z to the pound, so shopping was incredibly cheap, to the extent Rob wishes to go back!! I make coleslaw (P.I.T.A) and a potatoes salad and its 12 degrees but without a breeze so Robs outside doing a BBQ. The campsite was difficult to find but is a nice site, large, no one around except one other large caravan with no ...
