... asked me to get some ice for Warren to help keep his temperature down. A simple task you would think! But no, after asking all the stores could I buy some ice, I ended up at the IDBF office, they sent me to first aid.....no ice.....then after about 10 minutes of conversation which I couldn't understand I was told to go back to one of the stores , find a volunteer and he would help me. ... the opens (men's over 60) and won Gold again. It's been a long time coming but very well deserved. If this keeps up we really will have to build that extra room.

Australia's tally for the day was 3 gold, 2 silver and one bronze. Not bad for a little country. The Canadians who have been world champions for probably the last ten years were extremely upset that we beat them. Singing the national anthem was a highlight of the day. I found it ...

... to bed. The result of that is we didn't go to the opening ceremony which is on now. Actually Gary and Allan were told not to go as they both had been unwell. Alan is in stroke with Warren. For you non paddlers that means they are the first paddlers in the boat and the set the pace for the boat. In other words very needed. Of course they will be there tomorrow as the first day is the 2000m races which are on the river Tisza. A hard race but exciting.

I was going to Romania but not via Szeged. But that's where I am, and tomorrow Romania.

Long story but basically I couldn't find accommodation - well cheap accommodation - in Debrecen, the town in eastern Hungary I was going to cross the border from. So caught a train here instead on the recommendation of the hostel staff. They even booked me two nights in their assoc hostel ...
