Jalandhar, Punjab, India simmi.bajajDated: 18 Feb 2007 As we discussed in night we met at 7.30am @ Defence Colony, near balli's home, we met and without wasting any time we hit the road, then we filled our bike's tank from a petrol pump near P.A.P byepass, it was a very beautiful morning, the traffic was very minimal on the roads, though we were riding on National Highway 1 (GT Road) but still because of Feb morning only commercial vehicles were present there, and even it was a ...
Jalandhar, India bipodx... some stairs...the temple appeared through an archway. It was brilliantly gold against the white marble surroundings! The temple is made of marble, guilded with pure gold and sits in the centre of the small sacred lake. We walked around the temple deciding not to go in because there was a HUGE line up (well, it was a Sunday). We sat by the edge of the lake and soon noticed that there were huge fish in it! They ...

Jalandhar, India bipodx... looking up I had a 50% result. The last stop was the sign writers, we got there for around 8pm and the sign was finished and ready to collect. 100% result! It has been made beautifully and the finishing is perfect. I cant wait to put it up. Arun dropped me back at the office and I asked Vinodh to drop me up to Basti. I got here at around 9pm, we ate, chilled for a bit and then hit the sack around 11pm. I feel really tired and after two nights of little sleep could do with a good rest.
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... come in the evening to fix it (he never did turn up). I left for Jalandhar at 1.30pm, yep in the baking afternoon heat, I reached the office at 3pm. Arun was at the office and he had already had lunch so I made my way to Subway. When I got back Arun said he didn't really want to go out in the heat so we should wait till around 4.30pm before heading out. I chilled there for a bit then had a call from Dip, he said he was in Jalandhar so I met up ...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... there with Ashni Uncle for a while before coming to Basti. Everyone who came from England has gone back now and it's just the regular members of the family left. Things are very quiet in the house and the fact the uncle is not around is more apparent now than ever before. I stayed up till around 2am talking with Auntie, Alka and Rujni. Auntie talked about events during the last year or so and how they had been ...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... up to take it all in. We were all ready to step out by about 7am, but Gagan decided he didn't want to come out again so Soma and I went to the local Mandir. While we were in the Mandir, I noticed a Marble plaque donated by Neel Kamel Tailors (Darshan Uncles company), I know they used to come here a lot on holiday, in fact the last time I was here was with their family, that made me think of recent tragic events. When we came back from the mandir, we dragged Gagan out for some ...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... Gagan and I) went in Gagan's car. The first stop was Ajit's music store, I had to pick up another skin for my Dhol at home (yesterdays one didn't fit) and Anil's Dhol case. After that we went to this car dealer called Makhan, we saw a 1986 Gypsy (old shape Suzuki Vitara), it was fully loaded, AC, Wheels, flared arches, tinted windows and it had a diesel engine in it, the only problem was it was too old. We went over to Basti next, Pawan ...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... protesting lack of religious and political freedom (and this is not just stuff that was going on 40 years ago - this is recent). Even the students we tutored had pretty interesting stories. Jeff's student Phen Tsuk was a Buddhist monk who was sent to prison for three years for protesting Chinese policies. He had only gotten out of prison in April of this year, and left his family to escape to India in May. Allison's student Tsering spoke excellent English and gave a ...
