What a neat city! We didn't have a great first impression, since the taxi that took us from the train station to the hostel tried to charge us the equivalent of $120 for a 7 minute cab ride in the Romanian currency (we ended up paying 10 euros which was like 5x too much anyways but better than 100!) Fortunately, things only improved from there, and we had only positive experiences with cab ...

Even more surprising was that two of the city's main plazas, Piata Unirii and ...

Thankfully it disappeared quite quickly....So headed south into Romania, did the backroads again but as that part of Hungary is quite flat is was a tad boring....
Plotted up in Timisoara, ready for some decent mountain roads tomorrow..No photos today, didn't want ...

      Timisoara in the rain

A travel blog entry by kvstark on May 04, 2014

... 8217;s actually a day of rest as opposed to just another 'day I can get things done because I don’t have to go to work.’ I have been trying to take the Sabbath seriously for a while (with variations on what that means), because really just resting for a day and just spending time with people and maybe reading or taking a walk is probably very good for your mind and body. I think I will try with renewed effort to take this seriously when I get back ...
