Ilha Grande is gorgeous, tranquil and very laid back. It reminds me strongly of the Abel Tasman but with more development and warmer water...but loses points for rubbish in the water in a number of bays. Still despite the development the only cars on Ilha Grande are the ambulances and there are no roads linking the bays the only way to get anywhere is to walk or boat. Day One: Today I took a 2 hour bus to Ilha Grande, an island 150 km south of Rio known for its pristine beaches and having large areas of lush rainforest, the remnants of the fast disappearing Mata Atlantica ecosystem. Zjedlismy sobie po hamburgerze i popatrzylismy troche na capoeire wykonywana przez kilku kolesi na ulicy. W hotelu, juz kladlismy sie spac kiedy zaczelo cos walic w sciane. 28th February. Today we had a 10 hour day bus to Rio, then a 2 hour bus to Angra Reis then a taxi to the ferry port and a 2 hour boat ride to Illa Grande.
