absolutely nothing to do except sit on the beach after drinking my coffee looking at the beach. my biggest problem today was putting on screen and how i was going to reach the middle of my back. gorgeous day. all the tourists left the island yesterday because it was the end of the weekend. so i sat virtually alone, on the beach, and read. after 100 pages a brown cholcolate lab with a collar made out of a hawaiian lae went swimming with me, he was fun ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil sitzmanaFrom Rio, its a 3 hour bus to Angra to try to locate the ferry to Ilha Grande (literally big island). someone stops and shows us the way to the ferry and we are genuinely surprised to realise he is justa friendly local who isnt trying to sell us anything - we are in ultra friendly Brazil after all!

Ilha Grande is Brazil's third largest island - and a very popular tourist destination. The beaches are well populated by ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil lostalready... wasn't much point being on the beach, so we left the beach, packed our bags and left Trindade in the morning. After a couple of local buses on Colitur (the cheapest way to travel the Costa Verde, R$10 or USD5) via Paraty, we arrived at Angra dos Reis. Angra is an insignificant town except that it is the port city to get to the paradisical rainforest-covered island of Ilha Grande.

Ilha Grande: Hiking, Diving and Swimming on an Island Paradise

Hiking ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil chiapoe... with some morning mist here and there and all looked picture perfect. Once at my destination Angra dos Reis, luckily there were more boats to Ilha Grande than the once-daily afternoon connection that my guidebook had to offer, which would have meant a nasty long delay. And after 24 hours of travelling I felt more like a shower and a bed than sitting around at a dock. 40 minutes later I was on Ilha Grande, the Big Island ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil sabaidii... the next day back at Abraao. Nicky and I spent a couple of hours swimming, enjoying the sun and reading in the shade before catching a ferry back. Just in time too as we caught Claire in the act of sneaking out into town when she was supposed to be on complete bedrest in an attempt to heal her foot. Pleading extreme cabin fever she convinced us to take her out for dinner so we headed down to the beach and found a lovely waterfront pizzeria where we had an ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil kat_p... br>Besides, the boat trip happens to be interesting too. The first stop is this cave next to the sea to which you go down through a very claustrophobic passage carved in the stone. Once you are down there, the light coming in ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil captainflint... to journey home almost everyone was d-estroyed, I was soaked in salt water, rum and sun tan lotion but it was some serious fun. People were slipping on the deck and moving as the boat moved, trying to both dance and remain standing. The mix of people partying was also remarkable, e.g from Eileen a beautiful Belgian girl who has seemed been traveling for the world for the past 10 years since she was 18, Eda a 64 year old German Grandmother traveling S.America alone for 6 ...
Ilha Grande, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil gazanova... The descent was really tricky. The trail was covered with big rocks called pé-de-moleque which were very slippery because of the high humidity of the atlantic forest. In the few places where there were no slippery rocks mud had taken the whole trail and passing by was quite difficult. - Close to the end of the descent there was a shaking bridge over some rapids and Sensa could not go over it because of some broken pieces. We didn't realize that immediately and when we ...
Cachoeira dos veados - Perequê, Brazil gbasilio... either. We started from a good island beach to a dirty 4-5 meters anchor drop dock for snorkeling (which they call Blue Lagoon, pathetic)and later a to few meters long and 5-10 meters wide strip of beach which is ugggh, never got excited to swim or even wet my feet. After 5 minutes of looking, I decided to walk back to the schooner and hoping that I get back to my hotel earlier. Anyway, I enjoyed diving from off the boat ...
Angra dos Reis, Brazil hecqs... us in Rio. Our pousada sat in a tranquil piece of paradise and even had a natural mini-waterfall adjacent to its backyard. Our stay there was great, despite the moldy smell in our room. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast (café da amanha) in the backyard and to no surprise, breakfast there was exactly the same as our daily one in Rio: fruit, sweet breads, salty breads, ham, scrambled eggs, cheese, fruit juice and coffee. I am really going to miss all ...
